Online gambling as a sector was worth €6 bn in 2008 but by 2013 this figure is expected to double. It's a rapidly growing part of the wider gambling industry, which is worth around €80 bn and employs hundreds of thousands of people. However, at the moment online gambling is regulated largely at Member State level, with different rules and barriers for entry applying in different countries. Nevertheless, the European Commission released a green paper earlier in 2011 focusing on future regulatory developments in this sector and the European parliament has recently responded to the Commission with its own report on how to support this burgeoning industry.

In recent years, the "number" would be the last three digits of "the handle"—the amount race track bettors placed on race day at a major racetrack—published in racing journals and major newspapers in New York. A gambler places a bet with a bookie at a tavern or other semi-private place that acts as a betting parlor. A runner carries the money and betting slips between the betting parlors and the headquarters, called a numbers bank or policy bank. The name "policy" is from a similarity to cheap insurance, both seen as a gamble on the future... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dice Dice (singular die or dice; from Old French dé; from Latin datum "something which is given or played") are small throwable objects with multiple resting positions, used for generating random numbers. Dice are suitable as gambling devices for games like craps, and are also used in non-gambling tabletop games. A traditional die is a rounded cube, with each of its six faces showing a different number of dots (pips) from 1 to 6. When thrown or rolled, the die comes to rest showing on its upper surface a random integer from one to six, each value being equally likely. A variety of similar devices are also described as dice; such specialized dice may have polyhedral or irregular shapes and may have faces marked with symbols instead of numbers. They may be used to produce results other than one through six. Loaded and crooked dice are designed to favor some results over others for purposes of cheating or amusement... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craps Craps is a dice game in which the players make wagers on the outcome of the roll, or a series of rolls, of a pair of dice. Players may wager money against each other (playing "street craps", also known as "shooting dice" or "rolling dice") or a bank (playing "casino craps", also known as "table craps", or often just "craps"). Because it requires little equipment, "street craps" can be played in informal settings... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookmaker A bookmaker, bookie, or turf accountant is an organization or a person that takes bets on sporting and other events at agreed upon odds... Depending on jurisdiction, bookmaking may be legal or illegal, and is often regulated. In the United Kingdom, since 1 May 1961, bookmaking has been legal and even has been a small contributor to the British economy, with a recent explosion of interest with regard to the international gaming sector industry. However, gambling debts were unenforceable under English law until the Gambling Act 2005. Trusted legal bookmakers are members of IBAS, an industry standard organisation to settle disputes. Bookmaking is generally illegal in the United States, with Nevada being a notable exception due to the influence of Las Vegas. In some countries, such as Singapore, Sweden, Canada and Japan, the only legal bookmaker is owned and operated by the state. In Canada, this is part of the lottery programme and is known as Sport Select...

http://www.thebettingheadhunter.com - Recruitment jobs in search - gaming & gambling sector - Too many companies rely on recruitment agencies to filter out the vast amount of CVs currently flooding the international job boards when looking to fill vacancies. Admittedly its a job that most businesses are not geared up to do, so in a sense the recruiter is providing a much needed service, if thats what the hiring manager or HR professional perceives as value... The problem I have with this is that human capital is a very complex matter. Its not all about a CV and a race to get it on the desk of a client before the other 5 agencies! I constantly come across the comment from employers that they get the same CV from many different sources over a long period of time. Why wouldn't they? The CV sits on job boards for years.... My simple point today is that employers should expect to be introduced to candidates who are motivated to look at the opportunity on offer once the recruiter has completed a professional assessment and validation service, the extent of which can vary of course, but the client should know what that service is! Maybe employers are at fault? Perhaps they have made it too easy for recruitment agencies to become CV search administrators.... clearly many businesses see recruiters as a necessary evil and little more - Recruitment jobs in search - gaming & gambling sector - http://www.thebettingheadhunter.com
